Резюме

The success of the whole project is usually determined at this stage. Details of technical implementation should not consume all the attention. Digital library is built to preserve access to the materials, not materials themselves. The form of existence of the digital content evolves constantly and even archival formats have to be updated/reconverted at some point. Issues of provenance, digital security and copyright should be resolved at this stage. Digital repository will add another collection to the library. That collection has to be maintained and developed. Its digital nature makes it unique in the library environment. User expectations and publishing models evolve away from the hard copies and towards digital materials. In this environment it is logical for libraries to develop digital repositories as outgrowth of their traditional collections.
